Applications and Precautions

Applications: The Moog D635-651 direct-drive proportional valve is specifically integrated with pressure-control (P-control) or p/Q limit functions, making it a critical component in electrohydraulic systems where precision force, clamping tension, or pilot system pressures must be continuously modulated. It is extensively applied in advanced plastic injection molding machines (for clamping and hold-pressure phases), specialized metal hydroforming presses, precise die-casting machinery, hydraulic test benches, and secondary pilot-stage pressure control loops in heavy automation.

Precautions:

Contamination Control: Given its role in high-precision closed-loop pressure loops, strict compliance with ISO 4406 < 14/11 fluid cleanliness is critical. A high-pressure, non-bypass filter must be positioned directly upstream.

Proper System Flushing: Never run contaminated fluid through the valve during initial commissioning. The entire hydraulic circuit must be thoroughly pre-cleaned via a dedicated flushing plate.

Stable Voltage Supply: Protect the integrated SMD electronics by ensuring a stable 24 VDC supply and installing an external 1.6 A slow-blow fuse to clear unexpected voltage spikes.
