Applications and Precautions

Applications: The Moog D661-6460C pilot-operated servo-proportional valve is custom-built for high-power electrohydraulic closed-loop systems requiring superior dynamic response, massive flow rates, and precise control over position, velocity, force, or pressure. Driven by its highly responsive ServoJet pilot stage, it is a critical component in demanding industrial machinery. Key applications include heavy plastic injection and blow molding equipment, die casting machinery, high-tonnage metal forming presses, steel mill hydraulic positioners, and aerospace/automotive test rigs.

Precautions:

Pilot Oil Cleanliness: The precision orifices of the ServoJet pilot stage are extremely sensitive to microscopic particles. A high-pressure, non-bypass filter fitted with a continuous clogging alarm must be installed directly upstream.

External Drain (Y Port): To secure optimal dynamic behavior and prevent backpressure fluctuations from disrupting the main stage, utilizing an external pilot drain connection (Port Y) is highly recommended.

Flushing Protocols: Never route initial system fluid through the valve; the complete hydraulic circuit must be aggressively flushed with a temporary flushing plate prior to final installation.
