Applications:

The Moog D661-1705E-5 pilot-operated servo valve is engineered for high-power industrial electrohydraulic loops that demand large volumetric flow capacities (up to 250 l/min) and exceptionally stable dynamic responses under erratic system pressures. Thanks to the “-5” module stabilizing the pilot pressure, it is heavily relied upon for precision closed-loop control of position, velocity, and force. Typical applications include heavy plastic injection molding machinery, high-tonnage die-casting equipment, metal forming presses, automated steel mill rolling mill positioners, and high-frequency structural test rigs.

Precautions:

1. Pilot Filtration: The micro-orifices of the pilot stage are highly vulnerable to particulate silting. Installing an absolute high-pressure, non-bypass filter ($\beta_{10} \ge 75$) directly upstream with a continuous clogging indicator is mandatory.

2. External Drain (Y Port): To shield the valve’s dynamic linearity and null-position stability from return line backpressure shocks, connecting an independent external pilot drain (Port Y) is highly recommended.

3. Flushing Protocol: Never route initial system fluid through the valve during commissioning; use a temporary flushing plate to aggressively pre-clean the entire hydraulic loop before final installation.
